Sweater-Dress: No Better-Dress

Week 4: Sweaters over dresses/skirts make a quick and easy outfit that easily transfers between casual and formal. It's also means you don't have to freeze to look cute in the winter time.

Inspiration for this outfit is 70's counterculture:

sweater: ARC; dress: sister's hand-me-down

What is that face I'm making. Like "oh, am I awesome? I didn't notice. Hm, well. guess I am." (I'm kidding for those who aren't familiar with my humor)

dress: Repeat Boutique; sweater: ARC

The pattern on this dress is so eccentric I love it. It's like a cartooon version of Venice.

dress: I found it at ARC handmade; sweater: hand-me-down from a teacher's dead mother in-law. don't ask.

This one is above all comfortable:

dress: on sale at the Loft; sweater: from a clothing exchange with friends

Little modern Menonite:

scarf: gift; sweater: ARC; skirt: boutique in Seattle

Golfer Gypsy:
golf sweater:ARC
skirt: ARC
shoes:Thrift Store (in Old Town)

Basketball Jones:
Sweater: free rack at school
skirt: ARC
Shoes: ARC

This one says...

When the going gets tough. Get rough.
Rough... like the corduroy pants I'm wearing? Ooooo, ouch. That was rough. No pun intended. Yes, pun intended. Not gonna lie though, I felt pretty baller wearing this outfit.

Collars and Sweaters and Collars and Sweaters

According to the movie Her, sweaters over collared shirts are the fashion of the future (not that it's a new idea by any means). Now all I need is an artificially intelligent boyfriend. Here are as many permutations as I could think of for the classic duo of collars and sweaters.

Collars...

AND SWEATERS!!!

As you may notice, there are seven outfits shown above and I missed last week's one outfit per day. Well, now I'm all caught up. Above are days 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 with this week's outfits to come.

Band of The Week: Seapony

Seapony has been my obsession this week. Imagine the love child of Best Coast and The Weepies. The surfer beats and melodic guitar riffs of Best Coast combined with the soothing vocals of The Weepies. However, the vocals of Seapony transcend even the mellowness of the Weepies into something almost hypnotic. It leaks over into the dream-pop realm with Beach House and Youth Lagoon.

Have a Listen:

Also, this weeks outfits I have yet to post but I promise they are coming. I have not failed at my resolution just yet.

Day 4: Sunday Best

One thing that never gets old to me: long floral button-up dresses from the 90's. And seriously, they never seem to run out of them at the thrift stores. I have like 5 of them already. All you have to do is cut out the shoulder pads and roll up the sleeves and then they're decently wearable.

dress: goodwill,

Day 3: Friend's Clothes

Today's outfit was almost entirely derived from items of clothing that other people gave to me. A really good way to get lots of new clothes for super cheap (ie. free) is to have clothing exchanges with your friends. It's a double plus: you get to clean out your closet and get new free stuff.  So here it is: day 3

The shoes however, I got from Modcloth, not from a friend, but I swear that's the only part of this outfit that I got brand new! Ok, well my socks and tights I got brand new too but I always get things like that brand new anyway because it would be a little gross to get them second hand. But that's it I swear!

It's a New Year's Revolution!

New year's resolution: A different outfit for every day of 2015. I think I can do it. Obviosly I'll have to reuse single items of clothing but the goal is to never repeat an exact outfit on any given day of the whole year. It will be difficult and there will be tears but at least it will force me to actually wear the bear's amount of clothes that I have. That is, if bears wear clothes. Or maybe they use them to build nice comfy caves to hibernate in. Here, if I succeed, I will donate all my clothes to the bears. Just kidding, that would be ridiculous. I'll just go live with the bears for a year. That'll be next year's resolution.
